Kadıköy Social Centers Architectural Project Competition 

Physical activity is quite beneficial from the point of physical, mental and emotional condition for the elders. We have focused on creating a space for the elders to spend quality time and socialize in a healthy way beside meeting their basic daily needs. Within the scope of active aging, we tried to provide a strong connection with the city and its opportunities to create social life connections which is vital for healthy aging. 

Creating a strong open space and linking it with the neighborhood is a priority in this project. We have created different kind of walkable platforms and courtyards filled with activities to enhance mobility which is important for active aging. 

The volume consists of three blocks connected with each other. That fragmented approach links our proposal to the neighborhood scale. Accommodation unit is an infill building, filling the gap between apartment blocks. It has two entrances from both side, one from the street and the other from the other side connecting the open space. The main building consists of two curvilinear form connected to each other by a rectangular circulation element. We ve created some functional spaces at the basement levels enlightened by little courtyards in order to lessen the program over the ground.
