This historical Hamam (Turkish Bath) in Kuruçeşme which is one of the Bosphorus village in Istanbul includes restoration, renovation, interior design and rebuilt works together. The original building built in 17th century consist of wooden and massive stone structure. The spatial organization of the Hamam relies on hierarchical spaces from cold to hot. The first part of the building built by wooden structure reflects a Bosphorus architecture character with its wooden siding facade. The secondary part built by stone is for hot spaces to use the heat absorption capacity of the stone. As proposed by the consultants, the original structural systems has been rebuilt as part of the restoration program, however we proposed a new layout and contemporary approach to the structural system.
